**Description**

Ensure the resource quotas of each Public Cloud project (instances, CPU, RAM, volumes, Floating IPs, load balancers, and so on) are set close to the expected usage, rather than far above it, so the project cannot grow unexpectedly.

**Rationale**

Quotas that are much higher than needed let a compromised account or a runaway script create large numbers of resources, for example for crypto-mining, causing high costs. Keeping quotas close to normal usage limits the damage and alerts you when usage approaches the limit.

**Impact**

- Limits cost and damage from misuse

- Warnings appear when usage approaches the quota

- Quotas must be raised when real usage grows

**Default Value**

Quotas are set by OVHcloud based on account history, and can be raised manually or with the Auto-scaling quota feature.

**Pre-Requisites**

- Permission to manage the Public Cloud project

**Test Plan**

1. Log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel at [https://www.ovh.com/manager/](https://www.ovh.com/manager/).

2. In the left-hand menu, select Public Cloud and choose your project.

3. In the left-hand menu, under Settings, select Quota & Regions.

4. Compare each quota with your actual and expected usage.

5. If quotas are far above expected usage, follow the implementation steps.

**Implementation Steps**

1. Log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel at [https://www.ovh.com/manager/](https://www.ovh.com/manager/).

2. In the left-hand menu, select Public Cloud and choose your project.

3. In Quota & Regions, review whether the Auto-scaling quota option (which raises quotas automatically when usage stays above 60% for 30 days) is needed, and turn it off if it is not.

4. Contact OVHcloud support to request a lower quota for resources that are far above expected usage.

5. Monitor the warnings that appear when a resource reaches 80% of its quota.

**Backout Plan**

1. Log in to the OVHcloud Control Panel at [https://www.ovh.com/manager/](https://www.ovh.com/manager/).

2. In the left-hand menu, select Public Cloud and choose your project.

3. In Quota & Regions, click Increase your quota! to request a higher quota if needed.
